We wrote targets to help us with our learning.

We are learning about the Irish Potato Famine in Our World Around Us this term and we are reading Under the Hawthorn Tree for our class novel.
Legend tells us that the spot where a  Hawthorn tree grows is thought to be a place of enchantment where fairies meet to dance at midnight each night. Hawthorn trees are a symbol of safety and protection and it is considered to be very bad luck to cut down or damage a Hawthorn tree. Sometimes people tie a strip of cloth from clothes or a blanket to the branches of a Hawthorn tree to bring a loved one good luck and protection.
