P5/6 Team Building Along with St John's Pupils at Parkanaur.  ( Day 1)

We began our day with ice-breaker games in the yard, followed by orienteering in groups around the forest trails.

Next, we had to place out trust in our partners to lead us around the ropes course through the trees and bushes while we were blindfolded.

In the afternoon, we completed team-building activities. The first group had to use the crates and wooden planks to build a bridge to get across from one side of the yard to the other.

The other team had to work together to arrange the water pipes to carry the water from the barrel to the bucket at the other end of the line without spilling any of the water.

These activities were great fun for the children and they go a great deal out of working together on these.

P5/6 pupils were joined by pupils from St Johns to learn about

our Culture and Identity. (Day 2)

We learned about prejudice, stereotypes and discrimination. ( Day 3)

Active Citizenship ( Day 4 )

We looked at ways in which we can all show acts of kindness to others.

We ordered various items of rubbish according to how long it takes them to decompose if left within the environment. This really made us think about how we dispose of our rubbish.

We draw sketches of our favourite places and got to experience how we felt when these places were destroyed after the drawing was scrunched up. It made us very disappointed and upset to see them get ruined.

We identified things that we can all easily do to help to keep our environment healthy and strategies that we can use to build a better more ‘together’ community.

Our Vision of a Shared Future (Day 5)

We worked together to produce a poster for our joint presentation including our ideas about how we can create a better future for everyone in Moy. We thought about and recorded our ideas about what we can do to take care of the environment and how we can work together to create a positive community.

A Day of Celebration!

Pupils came together for a final day at Parkanaur, where they began by completing fun problem solving activities which involved working together to solve the riddles and clues positioned along the forest trail.

There was also some time for free play in the forest with our friends. Lots of fun was had by all!

Finally, each group had the opportunity to deliver their joint presentations to the other telling everyone our ideas about how to look after and improve the environment around us and  our strategies for how to build a positive community for everyone. Pupils worked together well and presented these with good confidence.

Well deserved awards and pizza for all our work during shared lessons over the past few weeks! Delicious!

Well done everyone for taking part and for all your great enthusiasm!

Fun times with new friends!

P7 Shared Education lessons with St John’s Primary School pupils

Our P7 pupils, along with pupils from St.John’s P.S recently took part in the Mid Ulster Council Good Relations Project.  This was a project between Beam Creative Network & Innovaser S.A.S based in Colombia.  The children had the opportunity to learn about other cultures.  Musicians from Colombia, along with local songwriter Malachi Cush delivered this project.  The children were able to work together to develop and design their own song, create cultural instruments and record a shared film piece.

P3/4 Shared Lessons with St. John’s P.S

Primary Two have taken part in their Shared Education lessons on the theme of 'Autumn in the Forest'.

We experimented with colour mixing to create Autumn colours and then enjoyed a leaf shower outside!

Fun at our joint after school Speedwell Club.

Bridges of different designs were made from KNEX and tested with weights to see which one was the strongest!
